Sound Barrier Walls

Verizon Building, Hopkinton MA

Original Noise Problem
The percussion lab was part of a recent renovation for the Berklee College of Music. The owners of the building wanted to upgrade and have 10 acoustically sealed practice rooms for the students.

Solutions/Materials Used
SVA provided and installed fabric wrapped and perforated metal acoustical panels for the walls and ceilings of each practice studio. Not only did SVA implement a solution to solve the noise problem, but the installation was also aesthetically pleasing for students and faculty. Since the installation, the Berklee College of Music has been more successful in keeping the integrity of each individual room acoustically sound.

Original Noise Problem
A large emergency generator was installed for an expansion project, which resulted in excessive noise levels affecting the surrounding neighborhood.

Solutions/Materials Used
SVA provided and installed sound barrier panels to create an acoustical enclosure around the generator. The resulting noise level was successfully reduced from 85 to 55 decibels to meet the town of Hopkinton’s noise ordinance.
